Clubiona comta

Luckily Bryan was able to identify this species. It is Clubiona comta, a very common spider all over Europe, including the British Isles. Often found on trees and under loose bark, or on leaves of ivy, but in autumn frequently seen climbing walls and fences. Some 3 to 6 mm long and quite distinctive. One of the few Sack Spiders to be identified even in the field. Adult females are found all year round, but most from May to November. Most males appear from April to July. The scientific name is also written as Clubiona compta.
