Drone Fly Eristalis pratorum
Many other Eristalis species are also very hard to identify. This is a species of which the identity is tentative. There are some other pictures of it to help with the identification, but the quality of these pictures is too poor for our website. In order to be able to identify it definitely, you would have to catch it anyway. There are identification tables in which you can look up the species you've caught. The differences between the various species can often only be told by looking at a combination of very small details, or examining the genitals.
