Common Awl Robber Fly Neoitamus cyanurus
The Common Awl Robber Fly looks like the Brown Heath Robber Fly a lot, but there are two important differences. First of all the Common Awl Robber Fly does not have banded legs. The entire middle section of the legs is yellowish brown. The other parts of the legs are black. Both species have a black stripe running over the thorax. But the Common Awl Robber Fly has black markings on both sides of this line. The Brown Heath Robberfly does without these markings. Furthermore the Common Awl Robber Fly has greenish eyes, providing the lighting is good.
